Scouts from both the Moddey Dhoo Troop and the Phoenix Troop took part in the Island Scout Camp over the 11. – 13. July 2014, at the Crossags Camp Site in Ramsey. The Icelandic Tents had been set up by the Explorers the previous night (thank you) so after sorting gear out, we walked down to Poyll Dooey where Flag Break took place and a Wide Game ran.

imageBack on site it was time for supper, before we walked up the hill behind the camp site to watch a firework display which was being put on for Ramsey Week. It was then time for bed.

imageOn Saturday after breakfast and inspection (some of our Scouts seem to need some practice at tidying their kit) it was a day of activities. These included Gorge Walking, Kayaking, Raft Building, Backwoods Skills and Pioneering. Late in the afternoon a waterslide covered in foam was set up, which the Scouts enjoyed. After a BBQ Tea there was a Scavenger Hunt around the camp site, followed by a Camp Fire and then a Disco in the Ark, complete with foam tent.

imageOn Sunday after breakfast and inspection we managed to get our tents down, once the light rain had died out and the sun and wind had dried the canvas. Then it was off for an hours swimming at the local pool. Lunch was served in front of the cabin and then it was time for Flag Down and a walk down to the meeting point to be collected by parents. A pretty good camp and our thanks go to the organisers for putting it on.
