Thirteen Scouts, four Explorer Scouts and three Leaders attended a hike camp weekend over the 11. – 13. July 2008. The Camp was based at Peel and on the Friday night the hike tents and other equipment were set up followed by a game of Danish Long Ball and a chip supper.

On Saturday morning after breakfast, tent inspection and packed lunches made, the Scouts set off on their hikes. The Explorer Scouts hiked on their own from Peel to Castletown along the Road of the Herring (15 miles), followed by nine of the Scouts and a Leader half an hour behind. The remaining four other Scouts accompanied by another Leader followed the Heritage Way from Peel to Douglas (10 miles). Everyone completed their hikes without any trouble. In the evening we enjoyed a barbecue followed by games in the school field next to the camp site.

On Sunday after breakfast and inspection it was off to the indoor swimming pool for an hour or so, before lunch. After lunch all the tents were quickly taken down and packed away. A few games were played before the Scouts were picked up by the parents.

These hikes go towards the Three Legs Challenge Award, more of which can be found on the Manx Scouts Website here.
