On Sunday the 13. November 2016, it’s Remembrance Sunday, the day we remember all those who gave their lives defending their Country and the way of life we enjoy.

Our Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs and Scout Troops together with the Onchan District Explorer Scout Unit will be joining with the people of Onchan to Parade from the Manx Arms Hotel to St. Peters Church, where a Service of Remembrance will be held. Afterwards we will be parading to the War Memorial on Main Road, where a short Open Air Service will be held.

We will be meeting behind Elm Tree House, for no later than 09:15. Full uniform, including Scout Activity Trousers and shoes, is to be worn. Please bring a coat with you in case of inclement weather. The Open Air Service at the War Memorial will finish at about 11:15 from where you can be collected

Please do your very best to attend.

Note: Those Scouts on camp that weekend will be taking part in Remembrance Sunday; we have transport arranged to get you there and back (with swimming afterwards).

Around 130 members of the Group took part in this years Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service on the 9. November 2014. For the first time we were also joined by our Beaver Scouts. Luckily it was dry and we were able to parade without coats. We received quite a few comments from others taking part in the Service about how well behaved our members were (aren’t they always?). It’s on occasions like this when we have a high profile in our village and everyone did our Group proud.

A big thank you to all the Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders who attended the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Church Service on the 10. November 2013. We know a lot of you sacrificed other activities to attend this very important parade. There are more photos on our Facebook Page here.

We also had a 2nd Onchan Scout attend the Island Remembrance Sunday Parade at St. John’s representing Island Scouting.

There was a good turn out of Cubs and Scouts at the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service which was held in Onchan on the 11. November 2012. Luckily the weather stayed dry and the sun came out every now and again. Captain of the Parish Peter Kelly, who is also President of The Scout Association – Isle of Man, stood in for the Governor this year who was at another service.
