News from Thursday Beaver Colony

JAMBOREE

image

Thursday Beavers had a visit from their Group Scout Leader – Ash last week. The Beavers have been learning about Japan and International Scouting as part of their Friendship and Global Challenge Badges, and Ash came to the meeting to speak to the Beavers about the World Scout Jamboree, which is being held in Japan next year. The Beavers found out how long it would take to get to Japan, how many Scouts would be there from all over the World and the special neckerchiefs that the representatives for the Isle of Man will wear at the Jamboree.

CHIEF SCOUT’S BRONZE AWARD

Ash also presented two of our Beavers with their Chief Scout’s Bronze Award. This is a highly prestigious Award, and can only be achieved by Beavers who have completed all six of their Beaver Scout Challenge Awards (Promise, Friendship, Fitness, Creative, Global and Outdoor). It can take up to two years to complete these challenges and the Beavers have to work hard to make this happen, often completing activities at home when necessary. So our massive congratulations go to Finley and Thomas. Many thanks to Ash for presenting the Awards and very well done boys!

GOODBYE

imageIt was good timing that Finley achieved his Chief Scout Bronze Award as it was his last evening at 2nd Onchan Thursday Beavers. Finley and his family are moving to the UK, so we also presented Finley with a card signed by all his friends at Thursday Beavers. We would like to wish Finley and his family all the very best for their new life over the water.
