MAIZE MAZE – THURSDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2014

image

Thursday Beavers enjoyed an evening at the Fun Farm – Maize Maze. They all had fun running around and getting lost. We managed to find the centre of the maze pretty quickly, but had a bit of trouble finding our way out. Some of the Beavers did manage to get out of the maze very quickly, but I suspect they used other means!

Welcome Charlie – we hope you enjoy your time with Thursday Beavers and 2nd Onchan Scout Group.

HOBBIES, SPORTS & COLLECTOR ACTIVITY BADGES

image

Thursday Beavers have been busy working on their Hobbies, Sports and Collector Activity Badges. They have brought along items to share with the Colony and to talk about their chosen subject. There are some similarities between the requirements for these Badges, so some of the Beavers were able to meet the criteria for both, and gain both Badges. We have heard about Moshi Monsters, Match Attax, Butterflies, Football, Dance, Gymnastic, Music, Tag Rugby, Rabbits, Musical Instruments, Fishing, TT Autographs, Electric Trial Biking and Musical Instruments. We have awarded 10 Hobbies Badges, 5 Collector Badges and 9 Sports Badges. Well Done Beavers.

CHIEF SCOUT’S BRONZE AWARD

imageThursday Beavers had a special visitor on Thursday – Andrew Galka our Cub Scout Leader with Manannan Pack. Andrew joined us to present a very special award to Harry who has gained his Chief Scout’s Bronze Award. This prestigious Award can only be achieved by Beavers who have completed all six of their Beaver Scout Challenge Awards (Promise, Friendship, Fitness, Creative, Global and Outdoor). It can take up to two years to complete these challenges. Harry is only just 7 years old and has completed all his Challenges in just under a year at Beavers. Harry has worked hard to make this happen, completing activities at home when necessary. So massive congratulations go to Harry and many thanks to Andrew for presenting the Award.

HOMEWORK – 13. February 2014

imageBeavers liked to earn badges and have the opportunity to take part in badge-work activities during our meetings. It is not always possible to complete all the requirements during our meetings and Beavers have the option to do some of the badge-work activities at home. They can do as little or as much as they like. I am always impressed by the effort that Beavers put in to completing their activities and would like to share that with you. Here is some work by Harry C. from Thursday Beavers. Harry had to find out four facts about another country. Harry put together a lovely poster detailing some interesting facts about Australia. Well done Harry!
